Opening / Closing Times

The school opens to receive children at 9am. Supervision is provided from this time. Loreto National School takes no responsibility for children before this time.

 

  • Classes begin at 9.10am.

  • Children have a mid-morning break from 11.00am - 11.20am.

  • Lunch takes place from 1.00pm - 1.20pm.

  • The school day ends at 1.50pm for Junior and Senior infants.

  • The school day ends at 2.50pm for First to Sixth Classes.

  • Pupils should be collected from the school gate.

School Uniform

  • Children are expected to wear full school uniform in school every day, and when representing the school in public.

  • The school uniform for girls – is a green pinafore dress (or grey pants), cream shirt, green crested cardigan/jumper and school tie.

  • For boys it is a grey pants, cream shirt, green crested jumper and school tie. (Generic jumpers can be used – Crests are available to purchase in
    office).

  • On the days of their P.E. class, the children will wear the school tracksuit, and school t-shirt. Football jerseys are not acceptable. In the interest of safety, it is essential that children wear runners during P.E. class.

  • The School Uniform and tracksuit are available from Lyne’s of High Street, Killarney and Walsh Brother School Wear, New Street, Killarney.

  • P.E. days are as follows;

    • Monday and Thursday - 2nd Class – 6th Class Wednesday and Friday – Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class.

Uniform

In 2021 the school was awarded grant funding by the Department of Education and Youth as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). This was supported by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funding under its Recovery and Resilience Facility.

This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to address the digital divide in the following areas


Upgrade of School Communication app

Purchase of Classroom screens 

​

Increasing student access to digital support by upgrading of the school IT infrastructure including servers, and Wi-Fi
